Created in 1928 by hospitals, SHAM (Hospital Mutual Insurance Company), is the only mutual-type French insurance company specialising in hospital risk.
Today it has more than 140 employees working for its members to undertake all tasks linked to distribution, underwriting and managing contracts, but equally to offer advice from a specialist insurance mutual, familiar with the real life situations of its members.
Not aiming to make a profit and not relying on any financial groups, SHAM dedicates itself exclusively to its mission. The fact that it belongs to its members is made clear by the governing body and the general assembly, made up primarily of hospital managers.
SHAM insures:
- health and accommodation institutions
- non-profit and social services institutions
- local authorities, public housing bodies
- people working in these institutions for their private risk
Its core activities involve healthcare and social services institutions. More than one in every two public health institutions in France is insured with SHAM.
In direct contact with its markets due to the way it works and its size, SHAM offers its members, via tailor-made contracts and services, a stable experience of hospital risk.
Particular importance is given to the development of services created to assist its members and which enable advice to be offered as part of its services.
